Logistics

Home to Brussels Airport and strategically positioned at the heart of Europe, Flemish Brabant stands as a vital hub for international trade and transport. By fostering collaboration between businesses and leading knowledge institutes, we drive innovation in logistics, building a strong, future-ready sector.

As one of Flemish Brabant’s key spearhead sectors, logistics drives prosperity and creates jobs across the region. Our unique strengths include a high concentration of specialized expertise within leading knowledge institutions, the presence of Brussels Airport with its dedicated cargo strategy, and world-class multimodal infrastructure—making Flemish Brabant a true logistics hotspot

Focus areas

In this sector, we connect companies, governments, knowledge centres on key logistics themes in Flemish Brabant, in particular the airport, innovative technologies for logistics, the intelligent use of existing infrastructure and sustainability.

Smart logistics

We use technology and data to optimise logistics processes. This is how we build more efficient, cost-effective and sustainable transport and storage solutions.

Sustainable logistics

In an interplay of companies, governments and knowledge institutions, we are working on sustainable logistics. We are focusing on multimodal transport, bundling goods flows and sustainable fuels.

Logistics hotspots

Flemish Brabant has a number of logistics hotspots, such as the airport area in Zaventem, but also Asse and Leuven. We optimise these hubs by mapping freight flows and digitalisation.

Brussels Airport is at the top of Europe in the transport of pharma goods. Every day, the air cargo sector transports crucial medicines and life-saving therapies to patients worldwide. This is possible thanks to their specialised infrastructure, innovative refrigeration solutions, strict quality standards and digitised cold chain monitoring. The key to success here is cooperation within the Air Cargo Community.
